NNANE NTUBE hails from the south-west region of Cameroon. She is a bilingual teacher (French and English), poet, performer, and literacy advocate. In 2020, she authored her first poetry collection titled Litany of a Foreign Wife, one of the leading books that advocate for social, cultural, and political inclusion in a resilient society. Her poems have been featured in about 13 international anthologies, some of which are Bearing Witness, African Drum: Anthology of Poems from Africa, Medley of Melodies, Ashes and Memories, Best ‘New’ African Poets 2018, Corpses of Unity, Old Love Skin: Voices from Contemporary Africa, etc.
Nnane believes in the power of poetry to change mindsets and in quality education. Through these mediums, she has proactively led community-based projects to empower young people with technical skills that have enabled them to think critically and be the voice of the voiceless. Her dream is to have parents in her community believe in the creativity of their children and in the power of literature to transform societies.
She is the former coordinator of CLIJEC (Cercle Littéraire des Jeunes du Cameroun) and Writers Space Africa, Cameroon chapter (WSA Cameroon). She has formerly served as a reviewer for Writers Space Africa monthly magazine and an assistant editor for Poetic Africa Magazine. In 2018 and 2019, Nnane attended the African Writers Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, and Nairobi, Kenya, as a participant and a panelist, respectively. She runs a book club in the school she teaches in Bafia and in the Bafia main prison.
Nnane is the curator of the Young English Cameroonian Writers’ Award, one of the leading literary prizes in Cameroon.
Nnane’s heart and mind are in Bafia, but she lives in Yaounde. She loves traveling and cherishes her time with friends.
